WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING

A Letter to the Customers from Cathie

Hello intrepid crafters and makers!  My name is Cathie and I am going on my fifth year at Wool-Tyme and loving it.  I am your resident crocheter, along with knitting….. and of course, many other trades as most of you can relate to.

I love a good puzzle to solve and debunking a crochet pattern affords me this excitement. Front post, back post, back BUMP! – so many places to put a stitch! While we are talking about crochet, have you noticed our new “Crochet Corner”, the new expanded area for crochet? It is located above the Marble Chunky and now packed with resources to help you on your crochet journey.

Crochet has come a long way from doilies, the pineapple stitch, and granny squares - although still relevant – I love the classics! What’s old is new again!

Many patterns are now incorporating innovative ways to construct with new and old stitch techniques. For example, the slip stitch can be used in different ways to create a look that resembles knitting! Today there are so many modern and interesting patterns. Katia, Noro, West Yorkshire Spinner, Lang, Berroco, Sirdar, to name a few, have lots of exciting patterns.

Here at Wool-Tyme, we’ve noticed a huge influx of people wanting to learn how to crochet.  Thanks to Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, crochet is now in the forefront for a host of new crafters. It can seem less daunting with just a hook and loops; and definitely easier to frog!

Crochet is so popular that we fill up our Learn to Crochet classes very quickly.  For that reason, we are offering two separate Learn to Crochet classes for November and December. Keep an eye on our website as these classes will be posted very soon for signup instore or online.

Lastly, if you know or are a crocheter or knitter, we now carry a sterling silver (925) crochet tension ring that can be used for colour work knitting as well.  Available in three sizes. It would make a beautiful gift!

Thanks for reading!

“May your gauge never be off, your tension always perfect, and your yarn never end!”

 ITEM OF THE MONTH

Can a useful needlework accessory also be a piece of jewelry? Yes, the new finger ring made of 925 sterling silver by addi, available in three sizes, combines design and yarn guide in one.

The ring can not only be used for two-thread knitting, but also as an excellent yarn guide for one-thread knitting and the yarn tension can be varied individually depending on the threading.
