A Letter to the Customers
Classes are back at Wool-Tyme! From long-time running classes to brand new offerings, there are skills for everyone to learn. These classes fill up quickly so don't wait too long to sign up. Our schedule runs from now until December with more classes to be announced in the new year. We are so happy and thankful for the positive response that you have had to our classes, and we love to see how much you all learn from them.
Our Iceland Trip is now fully booked, and we are so excited to travel with all of you that have decided to go on this wonderful trip! We have an interest in offering this travel opportunity again and would love to know how many of you would be interested in joining us for a trip to Iceland in 2027. Each trip will offer unique experiences; some details will be different from the May 2026 trip, but it will be no less fun and exciting. CLASSES Sampler Talk: An Evening with 1897 Schoolhouse Samplers: Join us for a very special evening all about antique cross stitch samplers. Lianne van Leyen, the sampler collector and cross stitch designer behind1897 Schoolhouse Samplers, will captivate you with her immense knowledge of antique schoolgirl samplers whilst giving participants a rare opportunity to get up close an personal with these special pieces of history from her vast collection. Share a Stitch: Needlework: This group is open to those who like to do needlework and are looking to work on their own projects in a social setting. Participants can share what they are working on and support each other in their projects as they see fit. Share a Stich: Crochet & Knit Group: This group is open to those who crochet and knit who are looking to work on their own projects in a social setting. A staff member will be available to help people work through patterns/projects. Share a Stitch: Crochet and Knit Drop In: This group is open to those who crochet and knit and are looking to work on their own projects in a social setting. A staff member may be available to help people with a quick question, but this is not guaranteed. Learn to Knit: You will learn how to cast on stitches, knit stitch, purl stitch, ribbing, increasing, decreasing and binding off. You will learn the difference between garter stitch and stockinette stitch and maintaining good tension whilst knitting. You will learn how to check your gauge (tension) by adjusting needle sizes and how to correct errors. You will learn how to read a simple pattern, including knitting abbreviations and terms. You will be introduced to different yarn types, different needles and other knitting tools and accessories. Learn to Crochet: Held over two classes, this course is for those who have never crocheted before. Focus will be basic stitches like chain stitch, single and double crochet, joining in new yarn, good tension and even edges. The cost of the class includes yarn, hook and a simple pattern to practice what you learn. Learn to Knit a T-Shirt: This course is for the knitter who is familiar with the basics and is looking to advance to the next level. This course will consist of 5 sessions; each session is 2 hours in length. Your instructor will help you through the project, from learning how to take your measurements, making a swatch, and then through the pattern. Fearless Finishing: If you have knitted a sweater or two but still don't feel in control of the finishing process, this class is for you. Working on swatches, you will review basic invisible seaming and then move on to seaming ribbing, and garter stitch. Learn to pick up stitches flawlessly. Seam a bound off edge and learn the 3-needle bind-off. Learn how to sew a sleeve into place. You will learn to make and space buttonholes. We will also review placement of increases and decreases, gauge and swatching, how to choose the right size, basic yarn classification, and blocking. Come join us for 3 hours and conquer those finishing phobias! Learn to Knit Socks: Double Pointed Needles: This course is perfect for the person with knitting experience wanting to try socks. You'll learn how to cast on, knit on 4 needles, turn the heel and finish a sock. Learn Fair Isle Knitting: Knit a Bag: This course is for the knitter who is familiar with the basics and is looking to go to the next level. This course will be 3 hours in length. Needle Felting: Winter Decoration: This class is for a person new to needle felting. Our instructor will review the basics of materials, safety, foundation shapes, and how to approach a new project. You can expect to have a finished holiday decoration by the end of the class. Knit the Musselburgh Hat: This course is for the Knitter who is familiar with the basics. In this class you will learn to read a pattern and knit a double-layered beanie. Crochet a Hexagon Cardigan: This course is for the crocheter who is familiar with the basics and is looking to go to the next level. This course will consist of 3 sessions, each session is 2 hours in length. NOTE: the sessions are spaced out to make time to work on the project in preparation for the next step to be taught. Intermediate Fair Isle Knitting and Creating a Steek: This course is for the knitter who is familiar with knitting with two colours at the same time and is looking to go to the next level. This course also includes learning the skill of steeking knitted projects. There will be two (2), three (3) hour sessions with space between sessions to prepare for the next learning objective. Learn to Knit Cables: Braided Headband: This course is for the knitter who is familiar with the basics and is looking to go to the next level. This course will be 2 hours in length. You will learn how to read a pattern and knit a headband with cables. Our experienced teacher will be there to help you along the way Thrummed Mittens: Mitts are knit from the ribbed cuff up on four needles. The pattern is written with a chart for inserting thrums and detailed instructions for making and inserting thrums. The thrums make the mittens extra warm and cozy! This course is perfect for the person with knitting experience wanting to try mitts with thrums. Knit an Aran Scarf: This course is for the knitter who very comfortable with the basics and is looking to go to the next level. This course will be 2 session, each session 2 hours in length. This is a good class for those who have taken our Braided Headband class. You will learn how to read a pattern and knit an aran scarf with cables and other stitches. Our experienced teacher will be there to help you along the way. |
