WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING
A Letter to the Customers
Hey everyone!
Our resident stitching expert wrote up a lovely letter that we would love to share with you all this month!
Welcoming stitchers (back) to Wool-Tyme to explore our improved needlework section.
For years, Wool-Tyme has had a small needlework section, carrying a few cross stitch charts, traditional painted needlepoint canvases, a bit of fabric, and DMC tapestry wool and embroidery floss.
Interest in 'slower crafts' has increased significantly in the last 5-6 years, thanks in large part to crafty people showing off their needlework projects on social media platforms and COVID-19 lockdowns forcing everyone to find things to do at home.
Daily, we have customers expressing interest in trying a type of needlework for the first time, or customers who were once stitchers, having returning to the craft once more. Stitchers tastes and interests have shifted over time, and Wool-Tyme is doing its best at keeping up.
We have been gradually building up our needlework section in a variety of ways. Firstly, we have an extensive selection of current cross stitch charts in a large range of design styles and from a wide variety of popular designers.
We offer a large selection of pre-cut, wide quarter meters of Zwiegart Aida (14, 16, 18 & 20ct), Even Weave (20, 25, 28 & 32ct) and Linen (25, 28, 32, 36, 40 & 46ct). We are also now carrying “yardage” of Zweigart fabrics and can provide custom cuts in increments of ½ metres, (provided we have it in stock). We also carry interlock mono canvas in a range of counts and Penelope canvas in two widths.
We strive to maintain a healthy stock of DMC 6-strand embroidery floss, but we’ve added a large colour selection of #5 Pearl Cotton (skeins) and #8 Pearl Cotton. We carry the DMC Light Effects (metallics), Etoile (sparkly) and Coloris (variegated) lines as well as a few colours in the #12 Pearl Cotton.
We stock the complete colour ranges of two brands of overdyed cotton floss – The Gentle Art and Weeks Dye Works.
We carry the complete range of Au Ver A Soie 100/3s from France (100% silk in 50m spools) and the full line of Acorn Bobbins by Trailhead Company (Ontario/Yukon), a high luster #8 weight 100% Tencel that’s ideal for embroidery and sashiko.
New just last week is a gorgeous hand-dyed merino/silk embroidery wool by Lichen and Lace from New Brunswick. 49 beautiful, shimmering colours are sure to get the creative juices flowing.
Last fall we brought in Weeks Dye Works overdyed linen in 32, 36 and 40 count (Zweigart base only) and have wide quarter yard pre-cuts.
We are pleased to stock fun embroidery kits produced by two Canadian companies; Kiriki Press (Toronto) and Hook, Line & Tinker (Nova Scotia). Kiriki Press’s instructional samplers are perfect for absolute and ambition beginners alike, while the Hook, Line and Tinker kits are a small skill level up, but still perfectly doable for a newer stitcher.
We always have a wide selection of current seasonal Mill Hill seasonal kits and ornaments, as well as Mill Hill beads and Treasures.
We are always well stocked with needles for most needlework disciplines as well as tools and accessories.
Most of our needlework products are available for purchasing through our website (now including our cross stitch charts). We ship all over the world and also offer an in-store pick up option.
If you don’t see something you need, please let us know. We’re always happy to look into bringing in a new product, if the demand warrants.
If you haven’t been into Wool-Tyme recently, we do hope you stop in to see us soon.
Happy Stitching!

Hook, Line & Tinker Embroidery Kits You all showed us how much you loved these embroidery kits, so not only did we restock them, but we also added more to our collection! These Canadian kits are a great introduction to embroidery for those who want to dip their toes into this art, or for anyone who already has a love for embroidery. |
