WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING
A Letter to the Customers from Debbie
Welcome Summer!
This year I decided to change up my knitting projects from socks and cozy sweaters to a cotton T-shirt for summer. Wool-Tyme has a lovely selection of cotton/cotton blend yarns and after much deliberation, I choose Juniper Moon Farms Zooey in a beautiful, saturated red (everyone needs a red T-shirt). Zooey is a cotton blend in beautiful solid colours, stipes, and a dappled effect; it was a pleasure to knit with. After blocking, I ended up with a softly draping T-shirt I will wear for years!
One of my other creative passions is needle felting. The store carries a wool roving of medium fibre thickness. The colours are lovely with natural shades, both earth tones and jewel tones. I find it easy to work with and it is suitable or all levels of felting.
Watch for felting classes in the fall. Think pumpkins and Christmas ornaments, and maybe a critter or two. No matter what your creative passion is, enjoy and have a wonderful summer.
See you in the store,
Debbie

This past Saturday was World Wide Knit in Public Day, and we were so happy to be able to celebrate it with you at Nita Beer Co. It was so good to see so many familiar faces and some new ones too\. A very big thank you to everyone who brought in a donation of red yarn for us to pass along to the AIDS Committee of Ottawa. Hopefully we see you again at our August "Tent" Sale from the 8th-17th!

Good news for Wool-Tyme Stitchers - Au Ver A Soie 100/3 silks have arrived! Weare carrying all 300+ colours of this luminous, non-divisible silk thread thatcomes on 50m spools. Fair warning, we are missing about 5 or 6 colours that we hope to get when we make our next order. Also, we’ve only ordered a small amount of each colour to start with. Knowing that our local stitchers have been asking us to bring in silks for quite some time now, we expect certain colours to sell out quickly. Stitching with one strand of 100/3 will give good coverage on 36 to 40 count linen, Lugana (and even 20 count Aida) Just pull a length off the spool, thread your needle and stitch. For lower count fabric you can just double or triple the strands. 100/3 is excellent for Blackwork designs, back stitching and even machine embroidery. We are having to put on our thinking caps regarding how to display the spools appropriately in the store. If you’ve visited the cross stitch area of our store then you know space is at a premium. For the moment we’re asking customers to fill in a sheet with the colours they need, and someone will pop in the back and fill it. They won’t be available for ordering through our website for another week or so, but if you simply can’t wait, you can email us a list and include your phone number we’d be happy to do an order with you over the phone. Happy Stitching! |
